Insect and Disease Control To be sure, our environment is a complicated ecosystem. All aspects of it are connected and intertwined in so many ways that it's hard to fathom. As each specific part has evolved in its own way, so have opportunistic insects and diseases evolved along with them. In many instances, the presence of some insects and diseases is perfectly fine. When plant health is threatened, though, it's time to take some action.
