Cabling

In certain instances a tree will develop without a single main trunk.  There might be two co-dominate trunks, or even three or four trunks.  This type of structure often results in a weaker union, prone to storm damage.  The picture shows co-dominate trunks:

 

To deal with this problem we install cables in the crown of the tree.  This helps to prevent splitting and other serious damage.  Here's a look at some of the materials that are used when installing cables:
